STEMS to Sunshine introduces elementary teachers to an innovative and exciting curriculum that focuses on renewable, sustainable energy.  This interdisciplinary curriculum engages students in collaborative hands-on STEM activities that address authentic, real-world scenarios while utilizing technology.  The aim of the curriculum is to encourage the natural curiosity found in our young students to master the related standards and skills in the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.

This curriculum, much like the solar energy on which we base our units, aims to harness the power of our students’ natural inquisitiveness and energy to meet the needs of society through great education.  Teachers will be able to utilize this curriculum at the elementary grades to promote science and engineering practices such as problem solving, explanation of the cause and effect relationships, and data collection and analysis associated with energy and renewable resources.  This project encourages teachers to work across academic disciplines, including the arts, to teach students how energy and resources affect multiple facets of science – from life science to physical science.

The modules below will give teachers access to curriculum maps, unit plans, NGSS crosswalk, projects and other online resources.
